(December 5, 2009 - TOKYO, Japan) – Joannie Rochette of Ile-Dupas, Que., placed fifth on Saturday in women’s singles at the ISU Grand Prix figure skating final.
World champion Yu-Na Kim of South Korea won the gold medal with 188.86 points. Miki Ando of Japan was second at 185.94 and her compatriot Akiko Suzuki third at 174.00. Rochette, fourth after the short program, dropped a spot totalling 156.71.
“It was my worst performance in a long time,” said Rochette, silver medallist at last season’s world championships. “My goal coming here was to make the podium. I need to retrain this program and I know it can get good again quickly. I know I can turn this around.”
