Silver BladesSilver Blades Skating Club was established in 1945 as a parent-operated community club. It was first situated in Ravinia Gardens Arena in the west end of Toronto. With the opening of Central Arena in 1959 - Etobicoke’s first indoor arena, Silver Blades re-located to this facility.

Its purpose then, as now, has been to encourage amateur and competitive skating in a friendly community atmosphere.

Silver Blades has enjoyed, in the past, the coaching staff of Ozzie Colson, Ellen Burka and Lillian DeKresz. Several of their skaters have gone on to compete successfully at the national and international levels. Skaters such as Vern Taylor who was a Senior Competitor, David DeCruz who was a national Junior Champion and Michael Crooks who was a Senior Dance Competitor and a Canada Games Dance champion.

Today Silver Blades is home to over 300 skaters and offers a range of skating programs from CanSkate Level 1 to Adult, and recently launched a synchronized team, Ice Evolution.

Silver Blades is celebrating its 60th Anniversary which will culminate with a special edition Ice Show on April 28th and 29th, 2006 at Central Arena in Etobicoke (Toronto).
