All six Canadian skaters competing at the 2006 Triglav Trophy came home with a medal this weekend.

The Triglav Trophy, which is an international development event, was held April 12 to 16 in Jesenice, Slovenia.

Taking home the gold medal in the senior ladies event was Waterloo, Ont.’s Erin Scherrer. Scherrer won both the short program and the free skate to place first overall with a total of 111.62 points.

In the junior ladies event, Vancouver’s Kathryn Kang captured the silver medal. Kang was second in the short program and third in the free skate to earn a total score of 107.26, which placed her second overall.

Canada had two skaters on the podium in the novice ladies event. Fourteen-year-old Karel Di Bartolo, of St-Hubert, Que., won the gold medal with a total score of 103.59. She was first in both the short program and the free skate. Her teammate, 14-year-old Cecylia Witkowski, of Delta, B.C., was third in both the short program and the free skate to capture the bronze medal with a total score of 91.52.

There were also two Canadian medallists in the junior men’s event. Jamie Forsythe, of Kingston, Ont., was second in both the short program and the free skate to win the silver medal with a total of 138.18 points, while Dave Ferland, of Metabetchouan, Que., was fourth in the short program and third in the free skate to finish third overall with a total score of 113.16.
