When Shirley Beckman was awarded a pin to mark 50 years of volunteering as an official she made history. As the very first person from Skate Canada – Nova Scotia to receive this recognition, Shirley, who lives in Halifax, was honored with a certificate and pin from Skate Canada, a gift from the Section and lots of well wishes from her peers. Shirley has been judging in Nova Scotia for 50 years in Junior Singles and Pairs, and Senior Dance, and has touched the lives of many skaters in the province. The presentation was made at the Section’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) on May 10th.
"The support and training that I have received over the years have enabled me to give back to the community, in some small way, the benefit of that training. I deeply cherish the many wonderful friends I have made along the way and have a myriad of fond memories to look back on in the future," said Shirley.
Congratulations Shirley for reaching the 50-year milestone and thank you for your commitment to our sport.
