Two Canadian Senior synchronized skating teams, NEXXICE and Les Suprêmes, dominated the competition at the 2008 Spring Cup. The event was held this past weekend, February 8-10, in Milan, Italy.

Finishing at the top of the podium and securing Canada’s first international synchronized skating gold medal of the season, was NEXXICE senior. Placing first in both the short and free programs, NEXXICE claimed first place with an impressive total score of 183.62.

The 2007 season witnessed a series of firsts for NEXXICE, who captured their first National title at the 2007 BMO Financial Group Skate Canada Synchronized Championships in Chicoutimi, Quebec. It appears the 2008 season will be no different. NEXXCIE trains out of the Burlington Skating Club and is coached by Shelley Barnett.

Finishing in a close second was another Canadian team who is no stranger to the international podium, Les Suprêmes, who train out of the Club de Patinage Artistique St. Leonard. Placing second in both the short and free programs, Les Suprêmes represented Canada strongly, posting a combined total score of 178.23 to capture the silver medal.
