(December 5, 2007)
The HomeSense STARSkater of the Month contest returned this month for all registered STARSkaters. HomeSense, the presenting sponsor of the Skate Canada STARSkate program, first launched the contest in 2004 and more than 200 skaters have been recognized through the contest. Contestants must have a valid Skate Canada membership number to be eligible to enter.
The STARSkate program offers opportunities for skaters of all ages to develop fundamental figure skating skills in the areas of ice dance, skating skills, free skate and interpretive skating. As presenter of Skate Canada's STARSkate program, HomeSense supports over 1,400 community skating clubs nationwide where magic is created by kids participating in one of Canada’s favourite national pastimes.
There will be 13 STARSkaters, one from each Skate Canada section, selected each month from December 2007 to March 2008. All winners will receive a $100 HomeSense Gift Certificate and will have their names published on Skate Canada’s website and in Skate Canada’s enewsletter Above the Crowd.
