2011 SKATE CANADA ACGM/NCC
Every year Skate Canada members from across the country gather for the Annual Convention and General Meeting (ACGM). At the same time, coaches come together for the National Coaches’ Conference (NCC).
In 2011, the two events will be held in the historic city of Charlottetown, PEI, May 25-28.
The theme ties together our Skate Canada traditions, the historic nature of the city, and its impact on our country’s confederation. Join us for workshops, presentations and social events that all reflect Making New History.
The NCC kicks off on Wednesday evening with an enlightening presentation from world-renowned coach Manon Perron, who will share her experiences coaching Joannie Rochette leading up to, during and after the Olympic Games of 2010. Thursday is a full day of workshops covering a wide variety of topics for both divided for coaches to choose from either an instructional stream, competitive stream, or both!
Friday’s ACGM Workshops are designed with clubs, sections and coaches in mind and also cover a broad range of topics. Participants can choose any workshop topic that is of interest to them.
Saturday’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) will be another historic occasion as the new 14-member Skate Canada Board will take its place. Approved by the membership at last year’s ACGM, the streamlined Board will focus on setting policy for the association. Elections will take place during the AGM.
The social events will be memorable as always. Friday features the Achievement Awards Gala & Banquet where we recognize our volunteers whose commitment to our sport results in the success of our athletes, our clubs and our entire organization. Saturday night is a Traditional Seaside Social, with one of PEI’s most endearing traditions - an island seafood supper. Don’t worry, other choices are available too! And you’ll end off the evening with some great music.
As well, Skate Canada Prince Edward Island’s hospitality will be on full display for a variety of social events. The section has planned both a golf day and a lobster supper as two special activities. Full details can be found on Members Only.
