(August 29, 2008 - OTTAWA, ON) – While already one of Canada’s most loved pairs on the ice for many years, Ice Dancers Marie-France Dubreuil and Patrice Lauzon took the next step in their lives together off the ice when they were married this past weekend at the Auberge St. Gabriel in Old Montreal.
Marie-France and Patrice were joined by many of their friends from the cast of the Canadian and U.S. Stars on Ice shows for the special day including Brian Orser, Jeff Buttle, David Pelletier, Jennifer Robinson, Joannie Rochette, Jessica Dube & Bryce Davison, Sasha Cohen, Michael Weiss and others.
"This was obviously a day that Patrice and I have looked forward to, and it was very special to be able to share it with our friends and family in Montreal," said Marie-France, who wore a gown designed by Canadian Ines Di Santo. "We are very excited about this new chapter in our lives together, and very much appreciate all the well wishes we have received from everyone."
Dubreuil and Lauzon, who are four-time Canadian national champions and two-time silver world silver medalists, announced their retirement from competitive skating in May to focus on a professional career and their new lives together off the ice.
In addition to performing again in both the Canadian and U.S. Stars on Ice tours in 2009, Marie-France and Patrice will also be appearing in the casts of "Smucker's presents Hot Ice, Cool Sounds" on October 18 in Youngstown, Ohio and "Holiday Festival on Ice featuring Amy Grant and Michael W. Smith" on November 11 in Las Vegas.
