The Medicine Hat Skating Club is the oldest club in the city with an amazing reputation of bringing out the best in all our skaters. We have over 50 years of experience to back us and like all great things we evolve and grow to be able to bring forth the best.
This summer we had 3 of our coaching staff attend the Skate Canada National Coaching Conference in Ottawa. They learned first hand from our industries leaders, key techniques and strategies to help maximize our ice, get the best results from all our skaters and how to implement new cutting edge programs such as the New CanSkate program. We are confident that we have the best and most informed coaching staff around to bring out the best of every skater that steps on our ice! We have 2 former National Champions(Sarah Schmidek and Dylan Bullick), 2 former Coachs of the Year(Roxanne Doerksen and Carole Tomac), a highly sought after choreographer(Sue Bullick) and we are helping to develop new, young coaches(Stephanie Virovec) who can take what they have learned from us and help make other communities skaters great.
We have faced 2 huge set backs this year, first the devastating loss of our head coach Patricia Parry, who was the back bone of our club for close to 30 years. Then another with the flood this past June. Instead of crumbling we have come out stronger and more motivated to bring this city and surrounding area the BEST possible skating experience. We are learning from every little bump along the way and know that with every bump, we are becoming better! So thank you to everyone who has supported us and held fast through the bumps. We feel this is truly just the beginning of an amazing journey and we can't wait to share it with all of you!
