2011 Annual Convention and General Meeting to be held in Charlottetown, PEI

(May 20, 2010 - OTTAWA, ON) – Skate Canada announced today that Charlottetown, PEI will be the host city for the 2011 Annual Convention and General Meeting (ACGM), in conjunction with the 2011 National Coaches' Conference (NCC). The conference will run from May 24-29, 2011.

Figure skating delegates and coaches will meet in Charlottetown to celebrate the 2010/2011 season's competitive and corporate successes and outline goals and directions for the next season.

“It’s been some time since the skating community has gathered in PEI. We are looking forward to starting the season off right with our planning sessions beginning in Charlottetown,” said William Thompson, Skate Canada CEO.

“Charlottetown has a great reputation for being one of the most successful meeting places in Canada,” said Myrtle Jenkins-Smith, CEO of Tourism Charlottetown and the Prince Edward Island Convention Partnership. “We were thrilled to hear that Skate Canada will be bringing their Annual Convention and General Meeting & National Coaches Conference to Charlottetown in 2011 as we have been working with both national and local representatives since 2007.  We’re known as a small city that is big on hospitality so we are sure that the 500 Skate Canada delegates will enjoy every minute of their time here!”
