NEXXICE and black ice represent Canada at the 2010 ISU World Synchronized Skating Championships

(April 6, 2010 - OTTAWA, ON) – Skate Canada will send two skilled synchronized skating teams to the 2010 ISU World Synchronized Skating Championships in Colorado Springs, USA from April 9-10, 2010. The Colorado Springs World Arena will host 24 of the best teams from around the world for the most prestigious title in the sport.

Canadian Champions and defending World Champions NEXXICE will be leading the pack as they hope to repeat their success from 2009. The team represents the Burlington and Kitchener-Waterloo Skating Clubs and is coached by Shelley Simonton Barnett.

Joining NEXXICE will be black ice from the Upper Canada North York Skating Club. This is their second consecutive trip to worlds; in 2009 they placed a respectable fifth. They are coached by Cathy Dalton.

The team leader at the event is Hélène Gagnon and the Canadian official is Cynthia Alepin. The medical staff onsite will be Dr. Laura Cruz and physiotherapist Susan Massitti.
