Canadian entries announced for 2009 ISU Grand Prix circuit
(May 30, 2009 - OTTAWA, ON) – A total of thirty-six Canadian entries will compete in the 2009 International Skating Union (ISU) Grand Prix series.
Twenty-nine Canadian skaters – five men, four women, five pair teams and five ice dance teams – have received their assignments for the six-competition series. The circuit makes stops in France, Russia, China, Japan, USA and Canada. Two assignments are yet to be determined.
The series will launch in Paris, France, with Trophée Eric Bompard taking place from October 15-18. Canada will host the last stop on the circuit in Kitchener, Ontario where the 2009 HomeSense Skate Canada International will be held at The Aud from November 19-22.
Athletes competing on the ISU Grand Prix circuit are awarded points based on their placement at each event. At the conclusion of the six events, the athletes’ points are totaled and the top-six point earners in the men’s, ladies, pairs and ice dance events qualify to compete in the ISU Grand Prix Final. This season’s final will be held December 3-6 in Tokyo, Japan.
