Quebec City celebrates figure skating week October 14-20

(October 10, 2007 - Ottawa, ON) -Quebec City will celebrate figure skating week October 14-20, 2007. In collaboration with the City, Skate Canada is presenting a variety of skating activities each day at Place d’Youville to involve the community. In addition, Skate Canada is holding a skate drive and asking people to donate gently used skates to Québec en Forme who will distribute them to youngsters 4-12 years old who need them . Other highlights include a daily draw for two tickets for the Saturday night events at the HomeSense Skate Canada International featuring international figure skating stars, at the Colisée Pepsi, November 1 – 4 and an autograph session featuring three-time Canadian Champion, Joannie Rochette and Canadian bronze medalist Shawn Sawyer.

“We encourage everyone to come out and join us even if it is just during their lunch hour,” says Benoit Lavoie, President of Skate Canada. “This is going to be such a great week with all the different activities. We want everyone to enjoy themselves and to see what fun skating is.”
