Reception opens Championships
The 2007 BMO Canadian Championships got underway last night in Halifax
with an opening reception at the World Convention and Trade Centre. Teams
from 10 provinces were marshalled in to cheers and applause by those in
attendance and official greetings came from Benoit Lavoie, president Skate
Canada, Trevor Green, Vice President Nova Scotia and Market Leader Atlantic
Provinces, BMO Bank of Montreal and the deputy mayor of Halifax Sue Uteck
a former competitor at the Commonwealth Games. The Athletes Pledge was
read by Utako Wakamatsu and Jean Sebastien Fecteau and reading the oath
for the officials were Marc Allain and Jackie Wickett.
After a video of last year's event highlights the athletes, officials,
coaches and parents enjoyed mixing and mingling at a reception hosted
by the Skate Canada Executive.
