2006 Canadian Idol contestant Chad Doucette to sing at the 2007 BMO Canadian Championships

18-year-old Chad Doucette from Nova Scotia, who placed fourth in the 2006 Canadian Idol competition, will perform the Canadian national anthem at the opening ceremony of the 2007 BMO Canadian Championships on Wednesday, January 17 at the Halifax Metro Centre. The opening ceremony is scheduled to take place at 4:30 p.m. prior to the junior women’s short program event.

"It is my absolute pleasure to be able to return to my hometown and share my talents, meanwhile we are all being surrounded by so many amazing talents. These tremendous athletes make me proud to come from this great country and it is an honour to perform alongside them," says Doucette.

Doucette will take part in an autograph session with members of senior pairs’ teams at approximately 8 p.m. that same day.
