The EventThe 2007 BMO Financial Group Canadian Championships promises to be an unforgettable event. Approximately 250 of Canada’s best skaters are headed to Halifax, N.S., to compete in the 2007 BMO Financial Group Canadian Championships January 15-21 at the Halifax Metro Centre. The results at this event will determine who will represent Canada at the next ISU World Figure Skating Championships, ISU Four Continents Championships and ISU World Junior Championships. The event takes place at the Halifax Metro Centre over seven days starting with open practices on Monday and qualifying events on Tuesday for skaters who were ranked 13th and lower at the 2006 BMO Financial Group Canadian Championships. Athletes have qualified to compete at the national championships through the 13 BMO Financial Group Skate Canada Sectionals and the BMO Financial Group Skate Canada Western and Eastern Challenges. Skaters who were ranked in the top 12 in last year’s Canadian Championships will proceed directly to the short program.
An average of nearly 1 million people are expected to watch the event daily during 10 hours of national television coverage on CTV and TSN - click here for the detailed television schedule. A look back – see the 2006 event site. |
