SITE DIRECTOR, SKATEBUZZ/SKATECANADA.CA
Reporting to the CEO at the Skate Canada Toronto Office, the Site Director of the Skatebuzz/SkateCanada.ca websites will be responsible for meeting the communication and commercial goals set for the sites. This position will ensure the sites are produced at the highest level possible in terms of content, functionality and commercial viability against an agreed to business plan. A major emphasis will be to drive a substantial increase in the number of visitors to make it the leading site in its field.
The Site Director must have experience in managing a large multi-faceted website and have strong online writing and editing experience. Experience in project management is also essential in order to liaise with internal Skate Canada staff, external consultants and external agencies when initiating, leading and delivering on the sites business plans.
Important areas of expertise include content strategy, web site strategy, UED, competitive analysis, staff management, content management systems, product development and workflow, production technology, writing, editing, interpreting web metrics as well as SEO and SMO.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage all aspects of the Skatebuzz and Skate Canada websites to ensure the Association’s digital media objectives are achieved
- Increase total visitor numbers in accordance with the goals outlined in the business plan
- Effectively manage the budget for the sites
- Monitor the success of the websites and provide appropriate progress reports to the CEO, Skate Canada
- Manage the process of website publishing training for all appropriate Skatebuzz and Skate Canada staff
- Support the Skate Canada Marketing manager, Director of Communications and Director Member Services with their respective goals
- Support the sponsorship agency sales team enabling them to achieve the financial goals for the site
- Produce an annual strategy for Skatebuzz and SkateCanada.ca
- Responsible for the production of monthly progress reports
- Manage the relationships between Skate Canada and their online agency, development/design agencies and external consultants to maximize long-term benefit for Skatebuzz and Skate Canada
- Oversee day to day liaison with all appropriate Skate Canada staff at all levels in order to ensure that their on-line communication goals are completed
Knowledge and Experience Required
- Experience in managing a multi-faceted website with substantial experience managing content for the web
- Project management experience including experience working with external agencies
- Must be journalistically trained and experienced
- Strong writing and online editing experience. Able to identify a story and write for the web; writing strong online headlines and copy
- Understanding design, development phases of digital media, photo editing, and video editing
- Knowledge and experience using content management systems
- Knowledge of e-commerce would be a strong asset
- Strong multi tasking, skills
- Demonstrated ability to plan ahead and to meet deadlines
- Experience managing budgets
- Experience with sites with multiple functionality- e.g. live streaming, breaking news, selling tickets, event scoring and results
- Experience working with third parties and external agencies essential
- Ability to liaise with non-digital media focused internal departments and staff – re-writing stories from internal departments for web and updating content for both sites
- Experience of and familiarity with accessibility guidelines, navigational issues, UED

Salary Range: $95,000 to $110,000 dependent on qualifications, plus and excellent benefits package.
