COORDINATOR, COMMUNICATIONS & OFFICIALS

Position: FULL-TIME POSITION

Skate Canada: Alberta – NWT/Nunavut (Section office) is looking for an energetic, motivated and highly efficient individual as Coordinator, Communications & Officials. This full time position is located in Edmonton. This is an exciting opportunity for an individual with a love and passion for sport and figure skating and the desire to be involved in sport administration at the provincial level. The position provides communications and administrative support to Section office and provides developmental, communications and technical support to Skate Canada: Alberta-NWT/Nunavut Officials. The position also communicates extensively with the membership and, most often, is the Section office first point of contact for the membership.

Core responsibilities of the position relating to communications and administration include but are not limited to the following:

  • reception
  • general office administration
  • event support including the Annual General Meeting
  • attendance at Section events throughout the course of a year
  • Board meeting support and organization
  • maintenance and coordination of the Section website
  • developing and producing the Section newsletter
  • other communications as required to the members.

Core responsibilities of the position relating to support to Skate Canada: Alberta-NWT/Nunavut Officials include but are not limited to the following:

  • Staff Resource to the Officials Coordinating Committee and Sub-committees
  • communications to Officials and database updating
  • clinic coordination
  • equipment maintenance
  • provision of information respecting Officials’ certification.

Qualifications / Requirements:

  • High school diploma; post-secondary education in a related field is an asset
  • Related work and/or volunteer experience in a not-for-profit environment
  • Experience with MS Office Professional (Word, Excel, Access, Publisher, Power Point, etc.)
  • Experience with web technology and required software applications and experience with Microsoft Front Page and Publisher
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Excellent people skills to deal with the membership on the telephone, face to face and via email
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and manage a variety of tasks
  • Experience in working with volunteers is an asset
  • Knowledge of figure skating is an asset
