(January 12, 2010) – The entire skating family was saddened to learn of the death today of revered coach Linda Brauckmann, of Vancouver, BC. Best known as the coach of 1973 World Champion Karen Magnussen, Brauckmann’s international coaching career spanned nearly 50 years. An NCCP Level 4 Certified coach, she coached in both the USA and Canada, and mentored a host of talented skaters through the years. Her technical expertise and coaching ability were legendary, and in addition to her on-ice achievements, she also contributed to skating as co-author of several coaching manuals for professional and amateur standards, and is a founding member of the BC Coaches' Association. Most recently, she had served as a Senior Consultant with the BC Centre of Excellence. She was inducted into the Skate Canada Hall of Fame in 1996, alongside Karen Magnussen.
Skate Canada wishes sincere condolences to Linda’s family and wide network of friends throughout the world.
