(April 3, 2009) – Four influential Canadian figure skating leaders have officially entered the World Figure Skating Hall of Fame located in Colorado Springs. World Champion and two-time Olympic silver medalist, Brian Orser and 1984 World Pair Champions Barbara Underhill and Paul Martini were inducted under the Outstanding Competitor’s category. Judge, ISU Council member and former Skate Canada Board member Joyce Hisey was inducted under Outstanding Contributors for those who have made a significant impact on the sport in a non-skating role.

All four Canadian inductees are also in the Skate Canada Hall of Fame.

An on-ice ceremony took place before the ladies long program on Saturday, March 28, 2009 at the ISU World Figure Skating Championships. Following the conclusion of the ladies event a reception ceremony and speeches took place at the Wilshire Grand Hotel in Los Angeles, California.

Other inductees included Alena Vrzánová of Czechoslovakia, Willy Bietak of Austria and Nikolai Panin-Kolomenkin of Russia.
