Canadian Living magazine included ice dancer Marie-France Dubreuil in Canada’s top 10 female athletes.The magazine’s tribute to ten of Canada’s best female athletes was published in the October issue where the athletes described how they balance their personal lives with their training demands.

Dubreuil admits finding a balance between her personal and skating life is not always easy because she is obsessed with her work. But she has learned to stop thinking about skating when she is no longer on the ice, stay present in the moment and disconnect by doing a fun activity such as shopping or going to a movie.

The 33-year-old skater of Montréal, Qué., and her on and off ice partner of 11 years, Patrice Lauzon, announced in May they will not be competing during the 2007-2008, but will remain active in skating with show appearances. They will then prepare for the 2010 Olympic Games in Vancouver.

The two-time World Silver Medalists had a successful 2006-2007 season winning the silver medal at the 2007 ISU World Figure Skating Championships in Japan and their first ISU Four Continents Championships gold medal in Colorado Springs in January. Earlier in the season they qualified for the ISU Grand Prix Final, where they won the silver medal. They are currently five-time national champions.

Other female athletes included in Canadian Living’s top 10 include hockey Olympic gold medalist Hayley Wickenheiser, speed skating multiple Olympic medalist Clara Hughes and LPGA Champion Lorie Kane.
