Late Skate Canada President Bob Howard was among the inaugural six inductees into the Halton Hills Sport Museum Hall of Fame in Georgetown, Ontario. The ceremony was held at the John Elliott Theatre June 21st, 2007.

Four builders and two athletes were inducted in the Halton Hills Sport Museum Hall of Fame’s first ceremony. Two of the builders were inducted posthumously, including Bob Howard, who served as the Chair of the Athlete Trust, member of the Skate Canada Board of Directors and was President of the Association from 1987-88.

Bob Howard passed away on March 18, 2001 at the age of 69.

Bob began his involvement with Skate Canada in the mid 1970s and was instrumental in the marketing and TV side of the sport. He was a strong advocate for athletes with his greatest honour being the Chair of the Athlete Trust.

Bob received the Billie Mitchell Award posthumously at Skate Canada’s ACGM in 2001 two months after passing away. This award, named after the first female president of Skate Canada, recognizes a Board member who has made a significant contribution to the Association and skating.

Close to 200 people attended the induction ceremony, which will be broadcast on the local COGECO community channel within the next couple of weeks.
