It was a good night for Skate Canada members at the 2005 Ontario Sport Awards.
Jeffrey Buttle, the 2006 Olympic bronze medallist and 2005 world silver medallist, was recognized as male athlete of the year, while his coach, Lee Barkell, was named male coach of the year.
Margarette Wong, of Port Dover, Ont., was awarded the Syl Apps Special Achievement Award for volunteerism. The award is presented annually by the Province of Ontario to Ontario volunteers who have contributed to the development of sport in the province.
The awards ceremony took place on April 20 in Toronto.
Skate Canada congratulates Jeffrey, Lee and Margarette on these wonderful recognitions.
