On Saturday, May 29, another official was added to the list of honoured members of the Hall of Fame. In a short ceremony held at the CFSA Annual General Meeting in Quebec City, Gordon Garden was welcomed into the Hall of Fame by David Dore, CFSA Director General and Trustee of the Hall of Fame and Museum. Gordon's wife, Norah, accepted a portrait of her late husband for the induction and said a few touching words. Gordon Garden Official At age 35, Gordon Garden was a late starter in figure skating. On the prompting of his daughter and wife, he joined the Toronto Cricket, Skating and Curling Club where he performed in carnivals, sold tickets and organized props to eventually become Assistant Director of Performance. Gordon founded numerous clubs, was a member of the first executive of the Central Ontario Section, and became a Sectional competition accountant in 1957. His involvement at the section level led to his membership on the CFSA Board of Directors. From 1962 to 1969, Gordon served as a Chairman of the Rules Committee and subsequently re-wrote the Rule Book. While serving as a Director, he also maintained a position as accountant for Canadian Championships where he helped to develop the first competition and accounting manuals. Gordon was awarded a Canadian Centennial Medal in 1967 in recognition of his role in developing community skating programs. He and his family donated the Garden Cups for the Canadian Fours Championships and the COS established a trophy in his name to award at the Summer Free Skating Competition.
