HOST AN EVENT!
Put your city on the Canadian skating map.
We’re looking for dynamic Canadian communities interested in helping promote the growth of figure skating across the country.
By hosting an event, your community will be at the centre of our sport: you’ll bring a positive economic impact to your city; you’ll help create an opportunity for increased awareness of the benefits of skating for fun, fitness and achievement; you’ll help develop a spirit of volunteerism; and your efforts and success will leave a lasting legacy of event hosting expertise in your community.
You don’t need to be a skating expert to lead your community; all you need is inspiration, leadership and the ability to form a winning team.
Skate Canada currently has two models that are used to solicit bids for event hosting. In Model A, Skate Canada is responsible for the organization and financial outcome of the event. Currently three annual events fit this model, Skate Canada International, the Canadian Figure Skating Championships and Skate Canada Challenge.
In Model B, Events include Skate Canada Synchronized Skating Championships and Skate Canada Adult Figure Skating Championships. All of the general organization responsibilities as well as revenues and expenses for hosting the event will be the responsibility of a Local Organizing Committee which ideally will include city support, local, regional or provincial figure skating members, and tourism partners.
