Regina to host the 2014 Skate Canada Adult Figure Skating Championships

OTTAWA, ON: Skate Canada announced today that the City of Regina will once again play host to a national figure skating competition. The Co-operators Centre at Evraz Place will host the 2014 Skate Canada Adult Figure Skating Championships from March 28-30, 2014. The Local Organizing Committee’s (LOC) bid to host was submitted by the Regina Synchronized Skating Teams (RSST).

Hundreds of adult skaters from across the country will compete in four disciplines:  free skate, interpretive, ice dance and synchronized skating. Regina has been a frequent stop on the Canadian skating circuit, having hosted the Skate Canada Challenge event for the past two years, and will host that event again this December.

“We have been more than impressed with the facilities that Regina and the Co-operators Centre at Evraz Place have been able to offer our events. The entire city has embraced the sport,” said Benoît Lavoie, Skate Canada President. “This event is especially unique as it embraces the competitive nature of the sport as well as the adage that skating is for life. We are proud to offer adults the chance to stay active in figure skating at any age.”

Skate Canada offers recreational, test and competitive opportunities to adult skaters through our AdultSkate program. Programs available to adult skaters include CanSkate, STARSkate, CanPowerSkate, and SynchroSkate.
