(March 30, 2008)
2008 Canadian Senior Synchronized Skating Champion NEXXICE Senior added another international accomplishment to their synchronized skating portfolio this weekend. The team captured the bronze medal with a final score of 198.81 points at the 2008 ISU World Synchronized Skating Championships held March 28-29, 2008 in Budapest, Hungary.
This is NEXXICE Senior’s second consecutive bronze medal at the ISU World Synchronized Skating Championships. This international medal adds to the team’s already impressive season. In February they captured first place at the 2008 Spring Cup, in Milan, Italy, and went on to win the Canadian title in Chilliwack, B.C. NEXXICE Senior trains out of the Burlington Skating Club and the Kitchener-Waterloo Skating Club and is coached by Shelley Barnett.
Les Suprêmes, from CPA Saint-Léonard, joined NEXXICE Senior in Budapest for the 2008 ISU World Synchronized Skating Championships. Les Suprêmes were fifth after the short program and finished sixth overall with a final score of 188.59 points. Les Suprêmes, coached by Lyne Forget, are the second ranked Canadian team and won the silver medal at the 2008 Spring Cup.
Congratulations to both teams!
