This past weekend was the 25th Anniversary of the Skate Canada Manitoba Grass Roots Bursary. Skaters from the last 25 years returned for a weekend of fun and what a success it turned out to be. The years seemed to melt away as skaters and their parents arrived and reconnected with friends with whom they had spent so much time during their skating careers. There was representation from all eras including the very early years.

“The alumni prepared two group numbers to skate in the Annual Bursary Ice Show and as we watched the practices, all we saw was pure enjoyment on the faces of each and every skater,” says Hillary Baker, Chairman of the event.

A group for the event was created on the popular social website FaceBook and was inundated with pictures.

“The members of the Bursary Committee are thrilled with the overall success of the venture, and I’m sure will consider something more in the future,” says Baker.
