Skate Canada congratulates the Orono Figure Skating Club for its induction into the Clarington Sports Hall of Fame, which will take place on Saturday October 20, 2007 at the Recreation Complex in Bowmanville, Ont.

The Orono Figure Skating Club is celebrating its 60th season and has produced a considerable number of skaters who developed into high level athletes and competed at the national figure skating championships. Alumni from the Orono Figure Skating Club include national competitors Stephanie Hood (now Sharp) in 1983, Scott Maybee in the 1980s, Adam Colville who was on the 1997-1998 national junior team, and pair team Kaitlin Colville and Adam Colville.

The Orono Figure Skating Club offers many popular skating programs for its community including CanPowerSkate which has helped many hockey players in that area learn their basic skills and move on to achieve their dreams in the OHL, WHL and NHL.

Congratulations to the Orono Figure Skating Club for all its success!
