It was a good result for all three of the Canadian pair teams competing in the 2006 ISU World Junior Figure Skating Championships.

The three teams – Emilie Demers Boutin and Pierre Philippe Joncas, Valène Maheu and Simon-Pierre Coté and Amanda Ribeiro and Stuart Chutter – placed seventh, eighth and 10th, respectively, in the pair event, which wrapped up on Wednesday evening.

It was a strong result for all three teams, who were each making their junior world championship debut.

Demers Boutin and Joncas set a new personal best score under the new ISU judging system of 121.31, as did Maheu and Coté, who earned a total of 113.56 points. Ribeiro and Chutter were also awarded a new personal best score of 106.46.

Americans Julia Vlassov and Drew Meekins captured the gold medal with a total of 138.05 points. Their teammates, Kendra Moyle and Andy Seitz, were second with 133.50 points, while the Russian team of Ksenia Krasilnokova and Konstantin Bezmaternikh were third with a score of 132.66.

The 2006 ISU World Junior Figure Skating Championships continue today with the ladies final.
