Olympic bronze medallist. World silver medallist. Now Jeff Buttle can add the title of national team captain to his resume.
Buttle, the 2006 Olympic bronze medallist and 2005 world silver medallist, was voted into the position of national team captain by the members of the Skate Canada national team at the 2006 national team meetings, which took place in Markham, Ont. on May 25 and 26.
The two-time Canadian Champion will take over the role from Aaron Lowe, who, along with ice dance partner Megan Wing, retired from eligible skating earlier this spring.
Another member of the national team, Christopher Mabee, will also have a new role this season. Mabee, who is ranked fourth in the senior men’s event in Canada, was elected by the members of the national team to serve as the athlete representative on the Skate Canada board of directors.
Mabee will take the place of six-time Canadian Champion Jennifer Robinson on the board of directors.
Skate Canada congratulates both Buttle and Mabee on their new roles.
